All families seeking approval for free or reduced-price meals in Evanston/Skokie School District 65 are required to complete and submit a new application each school year. This year’s deadline is Aug. 19.

Applications are sent by mail in August and must be returned to the district’s Food Services Department at 1500 McDaniel Ave. in Evanston.

District 65 provides lunch for $2.50 at elementary schools, $2.75 at middle schools and breakfast for $1.75 at several elementary, middle and magnet schools.

Eligible families approved for reduced price meals pay 30 cents for breakfast; 40 cents for lunch.

Milk is included with meals or may be purchased separately for 60 cents.

Families approved for free or reduced price meals are also eligible to receive similar benefits regarding the payment of general student fees and school transportation services.
