Thieves stole tools from contractors’ trailers parked on two different Evanston streets. Those are among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.


600 Custer

Someone forced open an apartment storage area in the 600 block of Custer Avenue and stole a bicycle between 3 p.m. July 24 and 3 p.m. Saturday.

Shots Fired

1700 Hovland

Shots were reported in the 1700 block of Hovland Court at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday but nothing was found when the area was checked.


Ridge and Reba

Someone stole hand and power tools from an unlocked trailer on the street at Ridge Avenue and Reba Place at 2 p.m. Monday.

600 Hinman

Someone took a secured bicycle from the common area of an apartment building in the 600 block of Hinman Avenue between noon Sunday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

1300 Wilder

Someone lifted gardening equipment from an open trailer parked in the 1300 block of Wilder St. between 12:30 and 12:36 p.m. Tuesday.


1100 Ridge

Nataiya S. Brewton, 31, 5640 S. Paulina St. in Chicago, was arrested for a traffic violation at 9:59 a.m. Tuesday and is due to appear in Skokie District Court at 9 a.m. Sept. 17.
