City government activity in Evanston picks up today — including meetings about two potential planned developments and discussions of cannabis use and liquor regulations.
The Liquor Control Review Board will consider a range of modifications to Evanston’s liquor code when it meets at 11 a.m. this morning — including easing some restrictions on liquor sales at move theaters, permitting alcohol tastings in package stores and allowing smaller containers for some retail liquor sales.
At 2:30 p.m. the city’s Design and Project Review Committee will review a proposed five-story, 68-unit rental apartment development at 1555 Ridge Ave.
This evening at 7 p.m. the 5th Ward meeting will be held at Mt. Pisgah Church, 1813 Church St., where Pastor Clifford Wilson is scheduled to unveil plans — including a 3D model — for a new residential development just east of the church at the corner of Church Street and Darrow Avenue.
The now city-owned property on the corner, at 1805 Church St., has been vacant for decades, since a gas station on the site closed.
Also at 7 p.m., the Plan Commission, meeting in the City Council Chambers at the Civic Center, will consider modifications to the distance requirements between cannabis dispensaries and schools.
It will also review proposed provisions for additional cannabis uses in the city — including growers, infusers, processors and transporters.
