City cancels Supplier Diversity Conference

The city's Division of Purchasing has canceled its annual Supplier Diversity Conference, originally advertised in the City's Highlights newsletter for Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Hilton Garden Inn.

The event's cancellation is due to a number of scheduling conflicts city staff members have encountered.

The City plans to hold the next Supplier Diversity Conference sometime next year.

The City has sponsored a Supplier Diversity Conference annually for the last seven years.

Church/Dodge plan schedule detailed

The City of Evanston invites community members to help plan the revitalization of West Evanston neighborhoods.

A review of plan alternatives for the Church/Dodge area, from McDaniel to Darrow and south to Greenwood Street, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster.

City names new finance director

City Manager Julia Carroll has announced the appointment of Matthew A. Grady III as Director of Finance for the City of Evanston.

Grady starts work Sept. 18, filling a position vacant since March.

Grady is from Michigan where he served as Deputy Finance Director for the City of Detroit for four years and dealt with a $3.4 billion budget and 400 staff members.

Evanston's newest department director will be responsible for the central financial functions of the City of Evanston including participating in the formulation and execution of the City's financial policies.
