The national weather service has issued a tornado watch for portions of Illinois including Evanston that is effective until 11 p.m. tonight.

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

 

       PART OF SOUTHERN AND EASTERN ILLINOIS

       MUCH OF INDIANA

       MUCH OF LOWER MICHIGAN

       LAKE HURON

       LAKE MICHIGAN

 

EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 325 PM UNTIL 1100 PM CDT.

 

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 90 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

 

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 95 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 45 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF ALPENA MICHIGAN TO 40 MILES SOUTHEAST OF MOUNT VERNON ILLINOIS.
