Evanston aldermen were briefed Monday on a study of downtown traffic conditions by John LaPlante of city consultant T.Y.Lin International.

John LaPlante

LaPlante projected on the Planning and Development Committee meeting room wall a computer model of traffic conditions that he said shows how downtown traffic will be affected by several development projects in the works.

His bottom line was that traffic flow is pretty good downtown now, that the new projects won’t make it much worse, and that what adverse impacts they will have can be resolved by changes to signal timing and parking rules.

The report was essentially identical to a presentation LaPlante made to the Plan Commission two months ago.
