Evanston fire officials say rescue workers pulled two people from the water of Lake Michigan south of Dempster Street late this afternoon.
Fire and parks and recreation department units along with the U.S. Coast Guard were involved in the rescue of a 66-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman who were found in the water after they encountered trouble while out boating on the lake.
They were taken to the Coast Guard station at Wilmette Harbor where they were evaluated by Wilmette fire department paramedics and released.
Names of the victims and information on what happened to their boat were not immediately available.
