Police say two Evanston men have been charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into a home in the 2200 block of Noyes Street shortly before noon Thursday.

A police spokesman says officers responding to a burglary in progress call about 11:45 a.m. were told by a resident that he had confronted two men who’d forced their way into his home through a rear door.

The men then fled on foot and were briefly chased by the victim.

Provided with a description of the burglars by the victim, police say an officer spotted the suspects nearby, and when the suspects saw the officer they fled into a home in the 1900 block of Grey Avenue where police took them into custody.

Police say the victim later positively identified the suspects as the burglars.

The two men, Andrew L. McHaney, 20, of 2007 Ashland Ave., and Cardereon D. Priester, 20, of 1741 Leland Ave., were scheduled to appear in Skokie district court this morning for a bond hearing.
