Two Chicago men are facing aggravated robbery charges after a holdup Monday afternoon at an Evanston convenience store.
Police say officers were called to Hanan Finer Foods at 1942 Maple Ave. about 1:10 p.m., where a clerk told them that two men entered the store and approached the counter as if to pay for a purchase.

Police say officers were called to Hanan Finer Foods at 1942 Maple Ave. about 1:10 p.m., where a clerk told them that two men entered the store and approached the counter as if to pay for a purchase.
One of the men then pulled a gun and jumped over the counter, while the second ran around the counter to confront the victm. After obtaining an unspecified amount of cash, they fled the store, driving off in a blue-colored vehicle.
A short time later, police detectives spotted and stopped a car matching a radioed description near the intersection of Kirk Street and Asbury Avenue.
Police say they found robbery proceeds and a replica plastic handgun in the car and that the victim identified the suspects as the men who’d robbed the store.
The two, Roberto Rivera, 37, of 3349 N. Kilbourn #2, and Anthony Roldan, 30, of 1551 N. St. Louis #1, are now scheduled to appear Jan. 5., in district court in Skokie.
