Two Evanston residents — Dickelle Fonda and Alan Fishman — were among volunteers honored Tuesday night at the Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault’s annual volunteer appreciation dinner.

Fonda was honored for her work in sexual violence and her support in establishing Northwest CASA’s Evanston satellite office. Northwest CASA’s executive director, Jim Huenink, said he had “never met anyone with such determination to make something happen that was needed.”

Fishman was recognized for his devotion to Northwest CASA’s board of directors. Fishman joined Northwest CASA’s board in 2006 and remained engaged until he stepped off the board this June. Fishman held the leadership role of Treasurer from 2007-2009 and again in 2014. Northwest CASA’s Board Chair, Ellen Schnur, showed appreciation for Fishman’s unique contribution and direction he has provided to the agency over the years.

Northwest CASA is the only non-profit, full-service sexual assault agency covering the north and northwest suburbs of Cook County. The agency has been serving the needs of survivors of sexual violence and their significant others for more than 35 year. The main office is located in Arlington Heights with satellite offices in Crystal Lake and Evanston.

Great job: and there is MUCH more to be done! Thanks to all who are involved! And an all-around thanks to the EPD, NU police, etc…..
