Two Evanston residents are in the Kane County jail after being arrested in connection with an incident in which police say they found $1.35 million worth of heroin and $275,000 in cash.

A report in the Aurora Beacon News says police witnessed a meeting Tuesday in Aurora between Juan C. Fernandez and Reyna Garcia-Manzanares, who live in the 400 block of Howard Street in Evanston, and an Aurora man, Modesto Alarcon.

After the meeting, when police pulled over the Evanston residents’ car, they say they found more than $190,000 in cash.

And when they searched Alarcon’s home, police say, they found nine kilograms of heroin, $85,000 in cash and a handgun.

Fernandez, 39 and Garcia-Manzanares, 41, both face money laundering charges while Alarcon faces money laundering and drug charges.
