Evanston health officials reported 39 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 37 yesterday. The city’s death toll increased by two today to 98.

Statewide there were 9,277 new cases today, compared to 8,757 yesterday, for a new total of 1,017,322.

The state reported 123 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 175 yesterday, for a new total of 17,395.

The state reported 118,665 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 105,518 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of public health reported tests of 1,594 Evanston residents today, compared to 1,820 yesterday. The IDPH found 55 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 3.5%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,360 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,286 cases.

Chicago reported 1,766 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 214,872 and 18 new deaths, for a total of 4,301.

Suburban Cook county reported 1,733 new cases today for a total of 198,632 and 26 more deaths for a total of 3,895.

The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a one woman and one man in their 40s, three women in their 50s, two women and four men in their 60s, three women and seven men in their 70s, seven women and seven men in their 80s and three women and seven men in their 90s.

As of last night, 3,777 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 780 patients were in the ICU and 422 of those were on ventilators.
