Evanston officials reported two new COVID-19 cases today and one additional death, while the case count across Illinois receded a bit from the high reached on Friday.

The case count in Evanston now stands at 814 with the death toll now at 71.

Chicago today reported 292 new cases for a total of 54,968 and 10 more deaths for a total of 2,676.

Statewide there were 1,195 more cases today for a total of 152,962 and 24 more deaths for a total of 7,168.

Nearly two million people now have been tested for COVID-19 in Illinois, including 32,345 whose results were reported today. Today’s positive rate was 3.7%, down from 4% yesterday. The seven-day average positive rate now stands at 3%

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported test results for 225 Evanston residents today. Both positive results were from the south Evanston 60202 ZIP Code.The positive rate for Evanstonians tested today was 0.9%
