Evanston health officials reported two new COVID-19 cases among city residents today while 1,231 people were diagnosed with the disease across Illinois.

The statewide daily positive test rate rose to 4.1% today compared to a seven-day averate of 3.8%.

Evanston now has had a total of 855 COVID-19 cases and city officials say 21 people still have active cases. The city’s death toll from the coronavirus remained unchanged today at 71.

Chicago reported 268 new cases today for a total of 59,403 and nine more deaths for a total of 2,756.

Suburban Cook County reported 157 new cases today for a total of 43,605 and three more deaths for a total of 2,086.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported receiving test results for 30,567 people today, the lowest daily test total in nearly a week.

The IDPH reported test results for 303 Evanston residents today and said two of them had positive results, giving a positive rate here of 0.7%
