Evanston health officials reported two new COVID-19 cases today, raising the city’s total to 822. Across Illinois there were 707 new cases, marking the fifth day of declining case counts after a spike in cases last week.

Illinois now has reported 155,506 coronavirus cases. It reported 25 additional deaths today for a total of 7,218.

In Chicago there were 184 more cases today for a total of 55,583 and nine additional deaths for a total of 2,697.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of tests of 28,446 Illinois residents today, the lowest number of new tests in just over a week. The positive rate on tests today was 2.5%, down from the seven day average of 3.1%

The IDPH reported tests on 133 Evanston residents today and reported just one positive case here, one less than in the city’s count. The positive test rate for Evanston today, based on IDPH data, was 0.8%
