Evanston health officials reported two new COVID-19 cases among city residents today bringing the total number of cases here to 852. The city’s death toll from the pandemic remained unchanged at 71.

Chicago reported 335 new cases today for a total of 58,780 and one additional death for a total of 2,748.

Suburban Cook County reported 209 more cases today for a total of 43,175 and six more deaths for a total of 2,081.

Across Illinois there were 1,426 new cases raising the total to 169,883 and 12 more deaths for a total of 7,397.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported test results for 38,200 residents today with a positive rate of 3.7%. That compares to a seven-day average positive rate of 3.6%.

The IDPH said it received test results today for 243 Evanston residents and that none of those people had positive results. The IDPH total case count for Evanston now lags the city’s total a bit and stands at 850.
