Evanston health officials reported two new COVID-19 cases among city residents today for a total of 779 cases while the city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged at 68.
On this first day of a new level of reopening for Illinois after the pandemic shutdown, Chicago reported 244 new cases for a total of 51,511 and 17 more deaths for a total of 2,575.
Across Illinois there were 857 new cases for a total of 140,291 and 37 additional deaths for a total of 6,847.
While Evanston’s seven day rolling average of new cases has remained close to 2.0 for the past several days, the state’s average has edged up from about 600 to nearly 700 over the past several days.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 30,425 more COVID-19 tests today with a positive test rate of 2.8%. The seven-day average positive rate is now 2.7%
The IDPH reported tests of 179 Evanston residents today. With the two positive results the positive rate in Evanston was 1.1%
