Evanston health officials reported 18 new COVID-19 cases today, down from 27 yesterday. The city’s death toll increased by two today to 94.

Statewide there were 6,239 new cases today, compared to 4,699 yesterday, for a new total of 911,308.

The state reported 115 deaths today, compared to 97 yesterday, for a new total of 15,414.

The state reported 84,764 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 86,454 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 555 Evanston residents today, compared to 467 yesterday. It found 23 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 4.1%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,018 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 2,959 cases.

Chicago reported 1,067 new cases today for a total of 195,982. Its coronavirus death toll increased by 21 today to 3,966.

Suburban Cook County reported 1,285 more cases today for a total of 179,378 and 19 more deaths for a total of 3,519.

Those who died in Cook County today included a woman in her 40s, two women and one man in their 50s, five women and five men in their 60s, three women and nine men in their 70s, five women and seven men in their 80s, and one woman and two men in their 90s.

As of last night, 4,571 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 981 patients were in the ICU and 557 of those were on ventilators.
