Rain is beginning to change to snow, and Evanston city officials expect two to three inches to fall before the storm is over.

James Maiworm of the Public Works Agency says the heaviest snow is expected between 4 and 5 p.m. and again from 9 to 10 p.m. It will then taper off to light snow and flurries until midnight.

Temperatures are expected to fall to an overnight low of 17. Tomorrow should see sunshine but will be quite cold.

Maiworm says public works crews are on standby and will begin treating the roads as soon as conditions require. They’ll be working overnight and tomorrow to clean up the expected snow.
