Evanston city crews are working to repair water main breaks on Dodge Avenue and Lake Street in different sections of town.

The break on Dodge is right in front of the Levy Center at 300 Dodge Ave.

Lara Biggs of the city’s water department says the water had flooded the street this afternoon, but traffic was restored in both directions about 4:45 p.m. by redirecting traffic into the parking lanes.

The water main, located in the center of the street, is still being repaired. Biggs says some of the pavement has buckled and street crews will have to assess the need for pavement repairs in the morning.

The second break, at 2405 Lake St., is by King Lab School.

The water to that break was shut off around 6:15 p.m., Biggs says, and a crew will be working to repair that break overnight.
