A purse and a laptop computer left unattended at the downtown CVS Pharmacy were stolen yesterday. Also, police checked reports of gunfire on Grey Avenue and Hovland Court.  These among stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Theft

1700 Sherman

A purse and a laptop computer that were left unattended at the CVS Pharmacy in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue were stolen between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

1900 Central

Two bicycles were stolen from the sidewalk and from a parking lot in the 1900 block of Central Street between 7:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. yesterday.

1800 Hovland

A gray four-door Mitsubishi was stolen from the 1800 block of Hovland Court shortly after midnight today.

100 Asbury

Hygiene products were reported stolen from the CVS Pharmacy in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue around 11:23 a.m. yesterday.

Shots Heard

200 Grey

Gunshots were reported in the 200 block of Grey Avenue at 9:15 p.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

1700 Hovland

Gunshots were reported in the 1700 block of Hovland Court at about 8:55 a.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Traffic

Lake at Chicago

Jairo Armando Jovel-Vasquez, 19, of 5324 W. Parker Ave., Chicago, was arrested at Lake Street and Chicago Avenue at 1:35 a.m. and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Oct. 4 at 9 a.m.

Main at Ridge

Raymond E. Pryor, 47, of 1116 Darrow Ave., was arrested at Main Street and Ridge Avenue at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m.

1611 Chicago

Alejandro Raya, 24, of 7145 S. Sacramento Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 5:22 a.m. Monday and charged with driving under the influence. He is due in court on Sept. 17 at 9 a.m.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
