For the second consecutive game, Evanston’s baseball game with Maine South ended with a play at the plate, but Thursday, the outcome was in the Kits’ favor.
With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, James Allen singled in Michael Pope from second base to give Evanston the 3-2 win in dramatic fashion.

Allen also finished as the winner on the mound for the Kits. He entered the game with one out in the sixth with Maine South runners on second and third.
The Hawks tied the game but Allen got out of what could have been a big inning. Dylan Mulvihill started for the Kits and had a stellar effort: 5 1/3 innings, 5 hits, 2 ER and 6 strikeouts.
Evanston moves its record to 13-9 and 4-6 in the CSL.
