Alderman Robin Rue Simmons, 5th Ward, plans to hold what apparently will be Evanston’s first video-conference virtual ward meeting this evening at 7 p.m.

Last month Alderman Cicely Fleming, 9th Ward, held a virtual ward meeting but told her constituents it would be a voice-only session. “I will be online but not using the camera,” Fleming said in a newsletter announcing the session.

Rue Simmons says tonight’s meeting will include COVID-19 updates from State Sen. Laura Fine, Evanston Community Foundation CEO Monique Jones, Evanston Community Development Manager Paul Zalmezak, Evanston Health Director Ike Ogbo and, from Evanston Township High School, Superintendent Eric Witherspoon and Board Member Jude Laude.

Information on how to join the Zoom meeting session is available online.
