To register to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years old by Election Day and a resident of your precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day. Voters who have recently moved must re-register at their new address before the deadline.

To verify your registration status, use the “Your Voter Information” tool on the county clerk’s website.

Suburban Cook County voters can print a mail-in voter registration application from the website, or request one by calling 312-603-0906.

All applications must be delivered or postmarked by Jan. 5.

Residents wishing to register in person can visit the Evanston City Clerk’s office in the Civic Center at 2100 Ridge Ave., the county clerk’s downtown Chicago office, on the fifth floor at 69 W. Washington St., or the branch office in Room 149 of the Skokie Courthouse, 5600 W. Old Orchard Road.

Prospective voters should bring two pieces of identification to register, including one displaying a current address.
