Snow plows are likely to be back on the streets of Evanston Sunday as a break from today’s extremely cold weather will be accompanied by the arrival of a fresh snow storm.

Temperatures got down to nine degrees overnight and are expected to reach almost that low tonight. So Interfaith Action of Evanston plans to open its emergency overnight shelter at St.Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1004 Greenwood St., again tonight starting at 9 p.m.

Sunday, as temperatures rise into the 20s by noon time we’re expected to start seeing snow showers late in the morning that will continue into the evening, with a possible accumulation of 1 to 3 inches.

Average temperature for this time of year is 35 degrees for the daytime high and 18 degrees for the overnight low.

Plows are fine, bulldozers and backhoes between the hours of 2 and 4 AM are intolerable!!!!
