Freezing rain is falling in Evanston this morning.

James Maiworm of the city’s Public Works Agency says it’s likely to continue until around 10 a.m. when it will change to all rain.

The National Weather Service says any ice accumulation from the storm should be less than a tenth of an inch — but it will make travel on untreated roads hazardous during the morning commute.

Maiworm says public works crews treated main and secondary roads overnight and will be on standby this morning until the icing threat has passed.

There were several reports of people slipping and falling in the Robert Crown parking lot this morning, and when they asked for salt to be put down they were advised to call 311. I didn’t know 311 handled salt spreading??

    1. 311

That’s the universal number to call for all city services. Has been now for several years.
