Two tours of the Evanston Water Treatment Facility have been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11, but you need to register soon before they fill up.
The facility is located adjacent to the north end of the Northwestern University campus, at 555 Lincoln St.
The first tour, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., is designed for adults and children age 15 or older. The second tour, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is a “child friendly tour” and is designed for children age 6 or older who are accompanied by an adult.
Registration for the tours is first-come, first-served, and is limited to the first 30 Evanston residents who sign up. To register, residents should email water@cityofevanston.org or call (847) 448-8198.
Residents must provide their name, address, and phone number as well as the names of the individuals that will be attending in their party. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Oct.8. Walk-up registrations will not be available on the day of the tour.
Those who register will be placed on a guest list and only those on the list will be granted access to the facility. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All adults will be required to provide photo identification upon arrival.
Parking will be available in the facility’s gated parking lot accessible via the driveway on the north side of Lincoln Street between the two buildings.
Additional information about the tours is available on the city’s website.
