Light snow is expected to start falling later this afternoon in Evanston and continue into the overnight hours — with a possible two inches or so likely by mid-day Thursday.

Assistant Public Works Director James Maiworm says the snow is likely to start between 3:30 and 4 p.m. and fall steadily until 2 or 3 a.m. Thursday, with additional light lake effect snow possible into mid-day Thursday.

Maiworm says Public Works crews have anti-iced the main streets and secondary streets in anticipation of this snowfall. Crews are on standby and will begin clearing operations on streets and sidewalks when conditions require, but no parking restrictions are expected at this time.
