Evanston’s snow plows are likely to get a workout this weekend with the National Weather Service predicting freezing rain and snow late tonight into Saturday morning and the chance of more snow Saturday morning and afternoon.

We could get more than a tenth of an inch of ice, the weather service says, and possibly more than three inches of snow by Saturday evening.

Northeast winds will gust 40 to 50 miles per hour along the lakefront — and the weather service has issued a lakeshore flood warning from midnight tonight through 6 a.m. Sunday.
