Several hundred web developers and internet business types from around the world have arrived in Evanston this morning for the opening of CMS Expo, a three-day industry conference.

The conference sessions, held at the Hotel Orrington, focus on four major open-source content management systems used to build dynamic web sites.

It’s the second time in as many years that the conference, hosted by the CMS Association, has met in Evanston.

In a welcome letter, Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl encouraged the business owners in the group to consider Evanston as a location to start or expand a business — noting the city’s highly educated workforce and strong local business climate.
