Evanston’s Civic Center will be closed Monday in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as well as the Noyes Cultural Arts Center and the Levy Senior Center.

But the Evanston Public Library will be open.

The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15. The MLK Birthday celebration at Fleetwood will begin at 1 p.m. The Fleetwood will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 16, and Monday, Jan. 17.

Chandler-Newberger Center will not hold classes and the office will not conduct business on Monday, Jan. 17. However, there will be open basketball from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fee is $1, youth through high school; $4, adult resident; and $5, adult nonresident.

Robert Crown Community Center and Ice Complex will be open its regular hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Garbage pickup

Residential garbage collection by Groot Industries and city recycling collection services will be delayed one day during the holiday week, so, for example, pickups that normally occur on Mondays will be done on Tuesdays instead.

Commercial and condominium collection schedules will not change. For information about the pick up schedule, call 847-866-2940.
