A city crew was working in a very blustery Fountain Square downtown this afternoon to erect Evanston’s holiday tree.

It was so windy that the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle in front of Bennison’s Bakery was getting blown over, but the tree in the square appeared to be securely anchored.

The holiday tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Friday in the square.
