The City of Evanston plans to hold a second online meeting to discuss possible locations for a new dog park at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5.

The loss of the city’s dog beach to rising Lake Michigan waters has left just one dog park in town — Pooch Park, operated jointly with the Skokie Park District along the North Shore Channel north of Oakton Street.

The city has budgeted $110,000 for construction of an additional park this year, and staff hope to be able to select a site this spring, develop a design over the summer and construct improvements for the new dog park this fall.

Eight possible sites have been identified for the new facility in existing city parks using a set of criteria outlined in a staff presentation.

Details about how to participate in the meeting are available online.
