Evanston teens that are looking for a summer job are invited to attend a city-sponsored job fair this Saturday at Evanston Township High School.
The fair will be held April 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, located at 1600 Dodge Ave., but you should arrive early, as the doors will close at 1:30 p.m.
A similar fair held last year attracted more than 625 young people and resulted in summer jobs for 260 of them. Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl has set a goal this year of hiring 500 youths.
The jobs that are available are with the city and with local employers and cover such fields as automotive, retail, payroll services, hospitality, administrative, maintenance, technical, film, and more.
To attend, youth must be enrolled in school and be at least 14 years of age when the employment program begins in mid-June and live only in ZIP codes 60201 or 60202. Youth may be required to take a pre-hire drug test.
Participants are encouraged to fill out a job application form that is available on the city’s website.
