A little snow is expected to greet Evanstonians eager to kick off their holiday shopping expeditions the morning after Thanksgiving.

Assistant Public Works Director James Maiworm says we could get about a quarter inch of snow between 6 and 8 a.m. Friday.

Because the temperatures have been cold, Maiworm says, if the snow actually shows up it should stick on the ground, but may melt as temperatures rise later in the day.

He says public works crews are on alert to begin operations around 6 a.m. if necessary.
