The five candidates seeking to replace Julie Hamos in the 18th District seat will debate this Sunday at 1 p.m. at Kingsley Elementary School.

You can help determine the questions asked during the debate by submitting your question ideas online now.

No Republicans are seeking the seat, so the winner of February’s Democratic primary is all but guaranteed election to the position.

The debate is sponsored by the Democratic Party of Evanston and the New Trier Township Democratic Organization. The session will be moderated by Evanston Now publisher Bill Smith.

Bill Smith is the editor and publisher of Evanston Now.

  1. A one- party state is sad state
It’s a sad state of affairs in our democracy when the incumbent is not running, and members of only ONE party are vying for the seat.

Are we now living under a one party system?

  2. a happy state
As far as I know elections are still open for anyone to run in as long as they have the needed support.

Any and all takers would be welcomed ,I am sure.
