“Evanston Day” at Ryan Field is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, this year when the Wildcats meet Big 10 opponent Indiana.

In advance of the game a “Paint Evanston Purple” pep rally will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, at the NU clock tower at Clark Street and Orrington Avenue.

The pep rally, sponsored by the city and the NU athletic department, will feature Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl and Wildcat Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald.

Fans who wear purple to the rally will be offered promotions by some downtown businesses, and there will be giveaways at the rally itself.

A group of NU Football players will partner with area schools in the week leading up to the game to read and play with students.

Game day festivities begin two hours before kick-off in Wildcat Alley, located adjacent to Ryan Field. The family-fun zone will offer a range of activities including: face painting, games, appearances by the marching band, drinks and food.

After the game, attendees will be able to use their ticket stubs to take advantage of the promotions being offered by select businesses.

Evanston residents can purchase end-zone tickets to the Indiana game online at starting at $25 with the promotion code “purple.” Kick-off is set for 11 a.m.

  1. ETHS Band will be there, too!

I'd like to add that in the spirit of community, the ETHS Marching Band and cheerleaders (I think…) will also be participating in NU's Paint the Town Purple Pep Rally. It's a fun event!
