Evanston’s Wildkit varsity baseball team  dropped its opening game to Prairie Ridge 4-0 today.

Evanston pitcher Jordan Crawford had a no-hitter through the first four innings. But, in the fifth, Prairie Ridge opened with a double to right field.  A botched pick-off play and error by the Kits gave Prairie Ridge a 1-0 lead.  They added 1 in the sixth and 2 in the seventh off reliever Jack Anderson.

Despite the heat, the Wildkit bats were still cold.  Evanston managed only 5 baserunners and had only 3 hits (Mia Delgado, Cooper Powell and Max Siedlecki).

The Kits took the JV game 4-3 with a two-run comeback in the bottom of the seventh.  Evanston next plays at home against Ridgewood on Tuesday afternoon at 4:45 p.m at Evanston Stadium.
