Evanston police detectives are investigating a reported home invasion Thursday evening in the 3600 block of Old Glenview Road.

Police say a 97-year-old man told a relative who lives with him that sometime between 7:30 and 9 p.m. a woman he didn’t know had knocked on the door, entered the house and pushed the victim, causing him to fall to the floor.

The relative, who arrived home after the incident, discovered that a bedroom had also been ransacked and numerous pieces of jewelry were taken from the home.

The victim was taken by Evanston Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, but he apparently was not seriously injured.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the detective bureau at (847) 866-5040. Anonymous tips can also be sent by text message to CRIMES (274637) by including EPDTIP in the message line.
