Northwestern University police say a female NU student was robbed in the 700 block of Foster late Tuesday night.

Police say the student was walking west on Foster Street about 11:35 p.m. when a man who was sitting on a porch step in that area got up and grabbed her purse, which contained her wallet, cell phone and other materials. The man got into a car, which drove west on Foster Street and then turned into an alley.

The student was not injured.

The suspect was described as a male, 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Evanston Police Department at 847-866-5000.
