61-year-old Marta Torres, who was shot in the face Jan. 9 at the IHOP on Howard Street in Evanston, has died.

Her death Saturday, a week after the shooting, was confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office and was ruled a homicide.

Torres, who lived in the 1400 Block of Brummel Street, now is counted as one of four people killed by 32-year-old Jason Nightengale who went on a shooting spree in Chicago and Evanston before being killed by Evanston police. Three other people remain hospitalized with injuries after being shot in Nightengale’s attacks.
