Evanston police say a woman was shot in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue late Monday night.

Commander Tom Guenther says officers responding to a call of a person shot found the female Evanston resident lying on a driveway at 1725 Dodge Ave., suffering from a single gunshot wound to her midsection.

Evanston Fire Paramedics responded to the scene treated and transported the victim to the hospital.

Guenther says investigators are conducting interviews, collecting evidence and following up on leads in the case. He says the victim’s condition is not known at this time.

Ironically, this occurred in the same area of Church and Dodge, the very location where the city plans to spend 10 million of the governments money and an additional 4 million of Evanston taxpayer dollars to install new park benches, trees, and hardscape. Perhaps if they threw in a new branch library this may have never happened.

  2. Gun Violence

It seems like we hear about gun violence – particularly near the High School – more so than we did in the past.

Does anyone know if gun violence is on the rise / decline or holding steady?

    Thanks
