Evanston police say a number of women robbed another woman as she walked near the intersection of Dodge and Mulford Wednesday afternoon.
The woman says the robbers, who she didn’t know, followed her and then jumped her, threatening her with a steak knife and cutting her on the hand as she struggled with them.
The victim gave the robbers her purse and they ran off. The robbery occurred about 3:40 p.m.
The police report didn’t specify how many robbers were involved in the attack, but they were described as black women in their late teens or early 20s. One was reported to be about 5-feet-6 with red hair, wearing a red t-shirt and capri jeans. Another was said to have microbraids and a white t-shirt.
A police spokesman didn’t respond today to an e-mailed request for information about the age and home town of the victim.
