The City of Evanston is sponsoring Women Out Walking (W.O.W.), a 12-week walking campaign, beginning on Saturday, March 21, to highlight the importance of physical activity in women.

In addition to walking, participants will receive information on various health issues facing women and will be able to participate in activities like Tai Chi, yoga, Nia, etc. Prizes for free or discounted services in the community will be awarded to walking teams and individuals that are the weekly top performers.

Participation in this event is free. Through a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health Office of Women’s Health walkers will receive pedometers and walking journals.

Individuals and walking teams of up to 5 can pre-register for the campaign by March 13, but registration will remain open until the orientation session. Individual walkers will be placed on teams.

For more information, or to register, please contact Jonathan Webb at (847) 448-8053 or Milcah Baraona at (847) 866-2919.
