City officials say Evanston got about three-quarters-of-an-inch of snow just before rush hour this morning, but that with warming temperatures the precipitation has now switched over to rain.

Assistant Public Works Director James Maiworm says the rain will be freezing on untreated surfaces so traveling and walking caution is advised.

Rain is expected to continue through the morning and tapper off around noon.

Maiworm says main roads and secondary streets are wet and slushy and crews are working on all roads in an effort to clean them up before much colder weather returns tomorrow.
