Evanston health officials reported two new COVID-19 cases among city residents today, while 1,549 people tested positive for the disease across Illinois.

Evanston’s case count now stands at 910 and the city’s death toll from the pandemic has remained unchanged at 71 for the past month.

Chicago reported 227 new cases today for a total of 64,356 and three more deaths for a total of 2,812.

Suburban Cook county had 309 more cases for a total of 48,128 and two more deaths for a total of 2,121.

Statewide the case count now stands at 196,948 and the death toll rose today by 20 to 7,657.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results for tests on 41,362 people today, slightly under the seven-day average of 42,615. The positive rate today was 3.7%, compared to a seven-day positive rate of 4.1%

The IDPH reported test results for 211 Evanston residents today and found one case in each of the city’s two ZIP Codes for a positive rate of 1%.
