With relatively mild fall weather seeming to last a little longer than usual this year, the City of Evanston has extended yard waste collections through Dec. 10.

Yard waste is collected on residents’ regular refuse collection day, and must be placed in the city’s wheeled yard waste carts or in paper yard waste bags with a city yard waste sticker. Tree trimming bundles must also have a yard waste sticker.

City officials remind residents not to rake or push leaves onto the sidewalk or into the street. Leaves can block the flow of storm water along the curb, and can form a mat over drainage structures, preventing storm water from entering the sewer system and causing flooding.

Violations can be reported by calling or texting 847-448-4311. Special pick-up fees will be assessed by the City’s Public Works Department.
