Police say 50-year-old Evanston man has been charged with burglary after a pizza delivery driver reported finding a man rummaging through his vehicle late Thursday night.

He’s the eighth person arrested on burglary charges in Evanston in the last several days.

Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says the pizza driver had left his car unlocked when he made a delivery to a home in the 1600 block of Hinman Ave.

The driver managed to keep the alleged burglar on the scene until police arrived. Officers found nothing missing from the pizza driver’s car, but, Dugan says, the middle armrest storage compartment had been opened.

He says officers recovered two GPS units and an X-box video game from the suspect, Patrick Gordon, of 1458 Chicago Ave., and charged him with one felony count of burglary to a vehicle.
