Seven snow plow blades painted by students at seven Evanston schools are sitting in front of the Civic Center, helping promote a contest to decide which plow design local residents like best.

The city is taking votes online in the contest, which gives students a chance to have their art work seen all across the streets of the city through the winter months.

Starting Monday you can also vote by calling (847) 866-2940. The contest ends Thursday.

City officials says the paint job helps keep snow from sticking to the plow blades.
