The Northwestern Wildcats defeated Florida 15-11 on Saturday in the semi-final round of the NCAA women’s lacrosse tournament, sending the defending national champions to the final game against the same team they defeated last year.

Northwestern will play Boston College, who beat Syracuse 10-7, in the second game of the Final Four, to make it to the championship game as well.

The contest, on Sunday in Cary, North Carolina, will be on ESPN at 11 a.m.

NU beat BC last year, 18-6 to take the national title.

Northwestern superstar Izzy Scane, the all-time NCAA goal scoring leader, had four goals in Saturday’s victory.

Madison Taylor (the next Izzy Scane) scored five goals, and Lindsey Frank added three.

NU is one of the powerhouse programs in women’s lacrosse.

This was their fifth consecutive appearance in the Final Four.

It will be their second straight national championship game, and their tenth in program history. The ‘Cats are 8-1 in championship contests so far.


Update: Northwestern lost to Boston College in the championship game Sunday by a final score of 14-13.
